The 2013 National Lacrosse League season begins on January 5 when the Rochester Knighthawks, 2012 Champions Cup winners, travel to Everett, WA to take on the Washington Stealth.

Because of the balance of talent around the NLL, any team has the potential to come out victorious in any game. The Washington Stealth hope this holds true since last year's 4-12 season did not go as planned. Injuries to several key players kept them out of some games in 2012, but with everyone coming into the 2013 season healthy Washington hopes to turn things around.

Rochester's 2012 regular season could have gone better; they finished with a 7-9 record. However, they heated up at the right time, which helped them nab the title. The Knighthawks are bringing back key players from their title run as well as adding some familiar faces (Casey Powell, Dan Dawson, Paul Dawson).
